FAQ

  • Can I sign the documents before the notary arrives? No. All documents to be notarized must be signed in the presence of the notary.
  • Can I use a stamp for my signature? No. All signatures must be done by hand.
  • Why do I have to show a valid photo ID? It is the only way for the notary to positively identify the person whose signature is being notarized.
  • I don’t have a valid photo ID. Can PhillyNotary still notarize my documents? Yes. There must be two witnesses willing to confirm your identity. The two witnesses must have valid photo ID.
  • Can PhillyNotary certify a copy of a document for me? Yes. We can certify copies of documents as long as the copy is made in our presence, or we make the copy for you. Please note that copies of birth or death certificates must be certified by the Department of Vital Records.
  • Can PhillyNotary draft my legal documents for me? No. We are NOT attorneys and therefore cannot draft legal documents. Click here to download legal documents prepared by an attorney.
